The Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps is a serial archaeological property comprising 111 sites distributed across the Alpine region that document early agricultural settlement from the Neolithic through the Bronze Age. These waterlogged settlements, constructed between approximately 5000 and 500 BCE on the edges of lakes, rivers, and wetlands, preserve organic materials in exceptional detail.
