The Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain of survey triangulation stations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, established in the 19th century to measure a meridian and determine the exact shape and size of the Earth. Mรคki-Pรครคllys represents one of the northernmost markers of this international scientific collaboration.
